Genuine leather over a noticeably deeper pad body with a curve through its length, so the pad wraps the forearm instead of sitting flat on it and the impact is spread rather than concentrated at the strap. The edge is hand-laced the whole way round. Two wide straps close through buckles and lock with hook-and-loop, which is what stops a heavy pad rotating on the arm mid-round.
